Moving tips

    * Make an inventory and packing list.

    * As you pack, have two additional boxes handy, one labeled "Goodwill" and the other, "Garbage". Use them.

    * Give yourself plenty of time to pack and get organized.

    * Items that you will need for packing: boxes, packaging tape, scissors, see through garbage bags, colorful markers and unprinted newspaper for wrapping.  A simple little apron with large pockets will help to keep things handy.

    * Color coding boxes can be very helpful as well.  For example, use red boxes for kitchen items and blue boxes for bedroom items. At your new location, assign each room a color to indicate to the movers where the boxes go.

    * Number each box as you pack.  Usually the higher numbers are items that you need up until last minute.  Once you are in your new home higher numbered boxes are most useful and should be opened first.
